Today is Spy Wednesday.
The day that Judas Iscariot takes those 30 pieces of Silver in exchange for betraying Jesus.
Let us remember that Judas Iscariot was an Apostle, he had been with Jesus for three years! He had witnessed Our Lord perform many a miracle, and yet, he betrayed him.
How many of us want to sit there and say, “I would never!” or “I can’t believe it!” or ask,
“How could he?”
Newflash! Jesus was crucified for Our Sins! MY SINS!
Jesus Christ suffered, was tortured, beaten, spat upon, nailed to a cross, because of me…Because of what I have done and continue to do…
If Judas, who spent three years of his life with Our Lord, could betray him, how much more can you and I?
Let us not therefore become scandalized and point fingers at our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
Let us try and be patient as Our Lord is Patient.
Easier said than done, trust me, I know. This is an area where I am greatly lacking and yet am quite likely the biggest sinner of all.
May this Sacred Triduum bring us closer to God. May we reflect and not despair in our sin. Nor that we become immune to the effects of our sins.
Let us seek Him, His Mercy, His Compassion, His Love.
