So our Lay Pastoral Assistant posts this on my Facebook Page…
Here is more detail as to WHAT it is…
But in a Nutshell,
A meeting for bloggers will take place in Rome on the afternoon of Monday 2 May 2011.
The aim of the meeting, which is being organised by the Pontifical Councils for Culture and Social Communications, is to allow for a dialogue between bloggers and Church representatives, to listen to the experiences of those who are actively involved in this arena, and to achieve a greater understanding of the needs of that community. The meeting will also allow for a presentation of some of the initiatives to engage with new media practitioners being taken by the Church, both in Rome and at the local level.
…
The meeting is taking place on the day after the Beatification of Pope John Paul II in order to take advantage of the likely presence in Rome of many bloggers. The invitation is open to all, but bloggers who wish to attend need to apply by emailingblogmeet@pccs.it and sending a link to their blog. As space is limited to 150 seats and there is a desire to have a representation of the entire blogosphere…
So…I enter it but knowing that I’m just doing it because both Vlad and my Husband are insisting…I mean really, little ‘ole me…Insignificant little Blog that sits out in the Entire Blogosphere…
Come on now…
And Representative of…of WHAT?!?!?
But I enter, what do I have to lose…
And now…
OMG!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN SELECTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOOK!!
Chers amis,
Dear friends,The following is the list of 150 bloggers invited to attend in person the meeting taking place in via della conciliazione, 5, on Monday 2 May. Over 750 requests were made and a hard decision-making process had to be put in place to ensure, as much as is possible, a broad representation of the blogosphere. There are some famous bloggers and some new bloggers, some are institutional, others personal, some tell vocational stories and others comment on international news or local issues. Some are well-financed, most are run on a shoestring. It was touching being involved in your issues, from coping with death, to the joys of parenting, the hopefulness of youth, to fear of change, not to mention the many causes and campaigns promoted, particularly in the new evangelisation. While some pre-choices were made to ensure a diversified presence, for the final selection we simply gave each blogger a number and had someone choose numbers randomly. I hope those not on the list will not feel excluded. The bloggers present in the Room will surely keep you informed and engaged. They may even organise a livestream. It is also to be hoped that this is just the beginning of a dialogue. The 150 will receive further indications after Easter, but should note now that we are not covering your expenses – the invitation was always intended for bloggers who would be in Rome for the Beatification. Selection to attend does not imply Vatican approval of the contents of any of the blogs. Neither does non-selection imply disapproval. Thanking you for your patience and understanding – this has already been a good learning experience for us. Richard Rouse

Hi Narda:
I am a student in the United States researching the Catholic Church’s use of new media in the digital world. I found your blog via the Pontifical Council for Social Communication’s post about bloggers selected for the landmark meeting of Bloggers at the Vatican in May 2011. I couldn’t find an email address to contact you directly from my brief perusal of your blog, but I was hoping to be able to correspond with you about your experience as a blogger.
Thanks so much! May God bless you!
