St. Kateri Tekakwitha

From DioceseMontreal.org

It was made official yesterday, Lily of the Mohawks, Kateri Tekakwitha, is one of the newest Saints that will, hopefully, now intercede for us before Our Lord 🙂

In naming her a saint, the Pope noted in a Vatican City ceremony how unusual it was in Tekakwitha’s culture for her to dedicate herself to her Catholic faith.

“May her example help us to live where we are, loving Jesus without denying who we are,” said Benedict, who spoke in English and French in a nod to Tekakwitha’s Canadian heritage. “Saint Kateri, protectress of Canada and the first Native American saint, we entrust you to the renewal of the faith in the first nations and in all of North America!”

~ Nelson Wyatt, The Canadian Press

St. Kateri is now the second North American Native to become a Saint.

San Juan Diego, from México, was the first.

Sadly, it took way too long for them to be canonized, in my humble opinion…the good thing is they are now FINALLY Saints!!

Please Pray for us that we may model your Courage and Undying Love for God.

Amen.
