What Sex-Ed Survey?

Had to share this story as I am one of the concerned parents. Click HERE for the link to the article. And below is a quote from PAFE (Parents As First Educators), along with a petition that you can copy and paste in another window. If after reading it you can take a moment to... Continue Reading →

A description of God simplified

Had to share this!
It is done, as the title states, in a manner that is quite simple to understand!
Enjoy!!!

The Bible is clear that God is (1) entity. Three distinct personalities – The Father, Jesus; the Holy Spirit.  To bring more clarity on God let me give you a few illustrations about singular words that have plural meanings.

  • The body of Christ is (1) body yet has many members. 1 Corinthians 12
  • A husband and wife are joined together in matrimony to become (1) flesh yet there are (2) people involved. Ephesians 5:31
  • An ice cube, steam, and water are all (1) substance  in (3) different forms – H2O.
  • God said, “Let us make man in our own image” Genesis 1:26

This great truth brings light to the subject of God in three distinct persons. The Bible is a beautiful textbook that teaches man to understand God, Christ, and the marvelous presence of the Holy Spirit who Jesus himself addressed as, “He”.

John 16: 13-14…Howbeit when :”he”, the Spirit of truth, is come, “he” will…

To Do List Tuesday

In case you haven’t done it yet, here’s a pretty good list to prep out vehicles for Old Man Winter 😉

shawn's avatarDown Home Thoughts

I’ve thought about it and I think that Tuesday’s will be To Do List Tuesdays#ToDoListTuesday and will feature various lists of things to do.  For example, today’s list is a bit late for anyone up north, like Buffalo, NY, but let’s chat about getting your car ready for winter.

  • Oil Change
  • Anti-freeze tested
  • Tires checked
  • Check your heater and defrosters
  • Windshield washer fluid (de-icer or anti-freeze added)
  • Check your windshield wipers
  • Check your emergency kit (don’t have one? check here)
  • Check your cars belts and hoses (need a regular maintenance checklist? go here)
  • Blanket
  • Boots
  • Folding shovel
  • Bag of Kitty Litter (useful for getting unstuck)
  • Water (if you get stranded)
  • Granola or other food bars

This is not a comprehensive list, but it is enough.  I home that this brief article has at least made you stop and think about getting your car ready for winter.  I like to keep some granola bars…

Madam Secretary

I have only seen two partial episodes of this series, but I have to say, I Like It! I enjoy the cast. I am a fan of Téa Leoni and Bebe Neuwirth. However, what has really made me want to watch this series is how the characters, Madam Secretary, especially, deal with the issues that... Continue Reading →

Life On The Internet

You want to know something truly funny.
As I type this, I am surrounded by parents waiting for their kids to finish a class.
What are we doing? On our phones. No human contact…
And am I initiating any?
Nope, I am sharing with you.

Enjoy this great post!
She hits on so many things that will hopefully make us pause and think.

Also, thank you again for the mention 🙂

QUICK UPDATE:

I decided to walk to the grocery store in order to enjoy the beautiful snowfall, and I will have you know that I greeted and tried speaking with every single person with whom I crossed paths.
Sure some looked at me a bit weird, but I am trying to “connect” the Old Skool way 😉

My attention was recently drawn to a blog post by From The Pews.

Such a short, simple post had me contemplating this digital age we live in. It has given us so much. Technology & those who study/create it have provided the world with innovative tools for building/creating, healing, inventing, doing business, staying in touch with far-away friends & family, & even making new friends despite distance & other circumstances. It has afforded us new, sometimes easier ways to earn a living & support our loved ones. Blogging & YouTube are among the many tools people use to gain the notoriety which has led to some of those people being able to make ends meet without doing much more than sitting in front of a computer screen. We can thank YouTube for Justin Bieber.

0123-fish-split-bieber-1Speaking of Justin Bieber, that brings me to all the other undesirable things our digital age has…

Oh But To Be Like A Child

It's so wonderful to see a usual hard-nosed critic's soft, gentler side 🙂 I am a fan of Chef Gordon Ramsay. What can I say 😉 I became a fan after watching a season of Hell's Kitchen. Admittedly, I only saw one season, but I truly enjoyed Chef Ramsay's quips! I have seen a couple... Continue Reading →
